Who was Lori Wilson – The history of the park
Lori Wilson was an iconic politician and lawyer from Florida.
Wilson was a formidable and amazing figure in her career as a public official, working to have all pay toilets eliminated from Florida and for the passage of a law to safeguard endangered manatees.
Wilson also spearheaded efforts to clean up an unofficial city dump in Cocoa Beach before it was transformed into a municipal park and the heart of Cocoa Beach. The naming of the park as Lori Wilson Park was one carried unanimously when brought to a vote. Lori passed away in 2019 at the age of 82.

Lori Wilson Park is a 32.43-acre regional beach park taking in so much of the beautiful coastline of Florida’s space coast. It is renowned for its maritime hammock ( a coastal hammock is an evergreen hardwood forest that has grown on stabilized dune sands).
There are 3 pavilions for hire along the park boardwalk and perfect for events, even a wedding if that is what your heart desires.
The park is well set up with many restrooms, outdoor showers, and parking lots in proximity to 6 dune crossover points. Additionally, you can spend the day here and cook and eat at designated grill areas.
There is a large ‘off-leash’ area for your furry friends which is a rarity in Cocoa Beach areas but sets Lori Wilson Park apart for such an amenity.
