Qatar Airways reveals expansion plans during the first day of the travel show in Germany. With seven new routes, the airline will now serve Chittagong, Juba, Kinshasa, Lyon, Medan, Toulouse, and Trabzon.

Additionally, it is also interesting to note destinations where flights are resuming in 2023: Beijing, Birmingham, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Davao, Marrakesh, Nice, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Ras Al-Khaimah and Tokyo Haneda.

Over 35 current destinations will also see frequency increases during winter 2023-2024. This is the case for example for Athens, which sees its weekly frequency double, but also for Milan, Phuket, and Denpasar. The new frequencies mark an increase of 21% in flights by July 2023.

ITB is the world’s largest travel and trade event with more than 160 000 visitors from around the world and 180 vendors.

Qatar Airways has won the world’s airline award by Skytrax for the seventh time. It has also been rated the Best Airline in the Middle East. The airline currently operates 150 destinations worldwide, with more than 500 daily from its Doha hub.

Its hub in Doha, HIA, has been voted the Best Airport in the world. It is home to luxury shopping malls, various and diverse food halls, as well as relaxation facilities.

During ITB Berlin, Qatar Airways unveiled other innovations at Hamad International Airport such as “The Orchard” and onboard virtual reality experiences.

Qatar’s goals include an increase in tourism to six or seven million visitors annually. It would represent an increase by three times the volume of visitors experienced in 2019 in the country.

Despite ongoing political scandals in Europe concerning Qatar, the airline wows to focus on its customer base and expand partnerships where possible. It quoted the example of its partnership with Indian carrier IndiGo.

The airline also signed Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as its global brand ambassador.
