Can You Take A Lightsaber From Galaxy’s Edge On A Plane?
Yes, you can take a lightsaber from Galaxy’s Edge on a plane. The TSA allows for all forms of lightsabers on their airplane. However, you may be asked to show it, depending on the TSA agent.
So, keep it in an accessible spot to save yourself the trouble regardless of where you’ve stored it.
However, most passengers have reported that they haven’t gotten into any trouble bringing their lightsabers even on trans-Atlantic flights.
How Do You Pack A Lightsaber On A Plane? Carry On / Hand Luggage? Stowed?
Lightsabers can be stored on a plane using carry-on/hand luggage and can also be stowed if needed. However, there’s a higher chance for your it to go through as checked baggage compared to carry-on.

Moreover, since it’ll be packed well, you also won’t be met with a broken lightsaber when you are on the other side of the continent. Since these are extremely expensive (almost 250$!), packing them correctly makes a lot of sense.
To be fair, you can also pack the lightsaber as a carry-on by disassembling it and storing it in the overhead compartment. However, if you have multiple of them to carry, this option gets a bit impractical as you might be disrupting the compartment for other passengers.
Plus, there’s always the risk of turbulence rattling and damaging them within the compartment.
Storing them in an overhead compartment should be your last resort.
But, if you have a short flight that isn’t known to have extreme bouts of turbulence, it is also the most convenient as all you need to do is disassemble your lightsabers and place them in the overhead compartment.
How Long Is Savi’s Lightsaber?
Savi’s lightsaber is about 34 inches, while the hilt (depending on which one you choose) is 9-13 inches. So, the length of the largest lightsaber, including the hilt, will come out to be about 47 inches (120cm).
Most checked luggage has a size of about 20-30 inches from the longest end.
Therefore, you’ll need to disassemble the hilt and the lightsaber before you pack them. Plus, it’s also safer to pack them apart from each other as that leads to a lower chance of them being squished near the connectors, causing either of the two parts to break.

With that said, you can also purchase a backpack right from the Droid Depot, which can also be used as a carry-on if you aren’t bringing any other. Moreover, if you end up building a BB-unit, disassembling all the parts and neatly packing them will help ensure they aren’t damaged during the flight.
What Is The Safest Way To Transport My Droid And Lightsaber Back Home?
Contrary to popular belief, bringing your lightsaber and Droid on a plane isn’t the safest or easiest way to bring your Galaxy’s Edge items back to your home station. Instead, shipping them directly from within Disneyland California is. How do you do that? Well, simple.
When you’ve purchased your lightsaber and droid at Savi’s Workshop and Droid Depot, respectively, let the staff there know that you wish to ship these items home.
The staff will then help you box and pack your items appropriately. Once that’s done, you can then head to First Order Cargo, located right in the corner.
Once there, you can then have all your items shipped with a staff member there informing you of the pricing and shipping options which vary in cost depending on what option you end up picking up.
With this option, you’ll be able to carry more items in your flight that can’t possibly be shipped and won’t have the hassle of carrying multiple lightsabers and droids. This is absolutely great especially if you have a larger family.
