Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria Overview
We stayed at the Caybeach Princess, an expansive complex of holiday bungalows conveniently located moments from the idyllic beaches and dunes of Maspalomas in Gran Canaria.
The 137 bungalows at Caybeach Princess are fully equipped for a self-catering stay and complemented by a constellation of amenities including three swimming pools, an on-site convenience store, sports courts, and a popular restaurant and pool bar.
We opted for the bungalows because they came fully equipped, with each property containing a kitchen, bathroom (with shower over bath), living area, and one or two bedrooms.
You also get a terrace with seating and some bungalows even have a semi-private pool you can enjoy.
It was great to have the option of a comfortable self-catering stay with access to Gran Canaria’s excellent leisure and shopping locations including excellent golf and the exciting Holiday World theme park!

Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria Accommodation
Let’s take a closer look at the holiday bungalows at the Caybeach Princess.
They are available at three levels:
- Classic
- Premium
- and Premium and Pool
We stayed in a premium bungalow. Yes, there are bungalows with a private pool which will save you the typical rush for sun loungers by the main pool.
However, there are three bungalows that have a private pool and we were disappointed to be unable to book one.
My reviews
Inside the Bungalows of the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
The bungalow types available at the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria include:
- Bungalow classic 1 bedroom
- Bungalow classic 1 bedroom near pool
- Large 1-bedroom classic bungalow
- 2-bed classic bungalow
- 1-bed premium bungalow
- 1-bed premium swim-up bungalow
Inside is surprisingly spacious despite there only being 58 square meters of living space. We had rooms with twin single beds that could be pushed together and a decent sofa bed in the living room.
The property had a kitchen with just a few utensils (nothing for a foodie feast) and a modern tiled floor and clean. minimalist decor.
You can expect standard amenities like air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a TV, but some services carry additional charges, which I’ll explain below.
Outside on the terrace, there was seating, but it was basic, and we noted that the classic bungalows had extremely limited private outdoor space.
Keeping Cool in the Bungalows of the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
You enter your bungalow using a key card, which is also necessary to switch on the air conditioning which is in the bedroom.
The air-con will only work with the key in the lock, so we often returned to a baking bedroom. The living area didn’t have air-con, making it extremely hot as temperatures soared beyond the 40℃ mark.
I did appreciate that the bungalows have been designed to maximize accessibility for the disabled with an accessible lowered sink which we used for our hand laundry.
The staff had also left a complimentary tube of hand laundry solution which came in handy.
The Caybeach Princess is Clean
Yes! The reviews are true! This resort is exceptionally clean.
You can have your bungalow cleaned daily by staff who do a fantastic job, and the communal areas are all extremely clean and fresh.
Additional Bungalow Fees at the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
Wi-Fi was free throughout the resort, but we did have to pay for access to a remote control for the TV (€10), and in the more basic bungalows, air-con carries an additional (essentially obligatory) charge.
Other charged services at the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria included:
- A steam iron €10
- Towels for the pool
- Access to the safe in the bedroom €10
- An air conditioning remote control €6
- Late check out, up to 6 pm for €25
Exploring the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
One of the things that made me book the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria was the self-catering approach with an all-inclusive resort feel.
This gave us great flexibility as we had we could stay at the Caybeach and relax at the pool with meals or head out to nearby restaurants or shops.
For our 14-night stay, we did a combination of activities, taking full advantage of the facilities at the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria.
Here are some of the highlights.
Three Swimming Pools and a Solarium
I really enjoyed the layout of this resort which is centered on a set of family-friendly swimming pools where you can lounge and soak up the Spanish sun to your heart’s content.
Honestly, these pools are a little bit over-marketed, as really there is only one large pool, with the other pools being smaller paddling pools for children.
There was no need in the summer heat, but they are heated pools, if you choose to travel during the cooler months.
The pools open at 10:30, with the usual rush for sunbeds and parasols in the solarium. There are also bubble sunbeds available for adults only.
Onsite Food and Drink
There are convenient food and drink options at the Caybeach, including a restaurant and poolside bar.
The restaurant had a diverse range of crowd-pleasing dishes, and we were continually topped up with chips by the pool for just a few Euros.
We were also able to buy essentials like bread, milk, and a bottle of Rojas at the onsite convenience store which is open till late.
Recreational Areas at the Caybeach Princess
It was easy to spend a day just relaxing at the Caybeach Princess.
They have a range of activities that meet the needs of the entire family. We were able to try everything during our 14-night stay.
Activities and facilities available while we were there included.
Live music in the evenings
We were excited at the prospect of live entertainment at the resort and set aside a few evenings to check it out. However, this was little more than a singer by the pool.
The resort has a selection of local singers who will perform from around 7 p.m. on specific days. Check with the front desk to find out what’s on when you stay.
Mini Club for Children
There is a club available for children between 4 and 12 years at the Caybeach Princess between 10 am and 1 pm which gives parents of young children a break.
There is also a playground with swings and a slide that is open until 8 p.m. every day.
Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria Sports Court
Our family enjoyed a kickabout on the sports court which featured a football pitch and basketball courts.
The court was not very busy, especially as the heat was so intense, but in the evening it is open until 8 pm, so you can play sports in cooler weather.
There was also beach volleyball going on but it was unclear how it was being coordinated, so check with reception for the exact range of events and activities available.
Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria Locality
Maspalomas is an amazing resort region in southern Gran Canaria, with everything you could want from an amazing family holiday.
It is a very developed and commercial region, comparable to locations like Palm Springs with luxury shopping at locations like Yumbo Centrum and Cita Shopping Center.
It is popular with British and European expats, reflected in the multilingual staff and international guests you’ll meet poolside.
I was able to get in a few rounds of golf at Maspalomas Golf, and of course, we headed to great nearby beaches like Playa de Maspalomas, Playa de San Agustin, and Playa de las Meloneras. There are taxis and plenty of cheap buses to take you into town for a few Euros.
Restaurants Close to Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
We headed over to a range of seafront restaurants and eateries throughout our stay, but two establishments really stood out to us:
Check-in and Check-out at the Caybeach Princess, Gran Canaria
We were impressed by the extended checkout at the Caybeach Princess which was only €25.
Rather than being stranded with our bags at noon, we were able to leave our luggage at reception and enjoy a full day out and about in Maspalomas.
On our return, we could even use a dedicated shower to freshen up before our flight home!
Final thoughts
We had a relaxing and restorative break at the Caybeach Princess. It’s in a great part of Gran Canaria but offers great value accommodation and the flexibility needed for an itinerary-lite holiday.
The location is great, and even though the amenities are a little on the light side and a 30-minute walk from the seafront, you can still have a comfortable stay, with plenty of opportunity to access the best of Maspalomas!
