If you’re planning a trip to Lake Havasu in western Arizona, we’re here to tell you all about its amazing beaches.
This area is incredibly popular with families and with over 60 miles of waterways, it’s a top spot for watersports too.
Let’s see what we found when we headed here to find the best beaches in Lake Havasu.
1. Windsor Beach
If you like big beaches, Windsor Beach is one of the biggest around. It boasts a sandy shoreline and calm waters, making it ideal for swimming.
Even though my daughter is still not a confident swimmer, she felt comfortable swimming in the calm waters of Windsor Beach’s designated swim area.
There’s plenty of space for those who choose to sunbathe and there are also picnic areas and barbeque grills available.
With its very own boat launch ramp, Windsor beach is also a popular spot for boating enthusiasts.
Though it’s not my thing, my husband enjoyed a walk over to the marina to look at the boats. You can hire jet skis, boats, and other watercraft here too.
My daughter was very happy playing in the playground here and my two older kids had a few games of volleyball on the beach, which kept them entertained.
The scenery here is just stunning, we didn’t want to leave.
2. Rotary Community Park Beach
The beach here is perfect for swimming and is shallow enough for little ones to play in the water safely.
The water is crystal clear and so refreshing. It was hot on the day we visited so we all enjoyed a dip in the lake.
We happened to have a beach umbrella with us in the car, but if you need to rent one here, you can. We definitely needed it on the day of our visit!
There is a stand here that sells snacks and drinks at reasonable prices but on this occasion, we’d decided to take advantage of the barbeque grills and cooked burgers. There was plenty of space at the picnic tables too.
If you’re into nature, this beach is a great place to spot Lake Havasu’s wide range of fish.
Here, you’ll find:
- Largemouth Bass: a carnivorous freshwater gamefish found in many lakes in North America.
- Catfish: a freshwater fish known for its prominent whiskers, a popular sport and food fish.
- Bluegill: a medium-sized freshwater fish, known for its colorful markings.
- Striped Bass: Known for their distinctive appearance of dark horizontal stripes across a light grey body.
3. Lake Havasu State Park Beach
Lake Havasu State Park Beach is a popular fishing spot, though anyone over 10 years old will require a fishing license.
This location has all the usual things you would expect from a popular beach, including good swimming spots, sun loungers, beach umbrellas, and barbeques.
Though we didn’t go for a hike ourselves, we saw many hikers preparing to head out into the desert landscape.
Nearby hiking trails include:
- Mohave Sunset Trail: a 1.75-mile trail that starts at the park’s visitors center and takes hikers through a scenic desert landscape.
- Arroyo-Camino Interpretive Garden Trail: a short, half-mile trail that takes hikers through the desert landscape with excellent views of Lake Havasu.
- Sara Park Trail: a 1.75-mile trail taking hikers through rough terrain with excellent mountain views.
- Crack in the Mountain Trail: A more challenging, 3.3-mile trail, with a steep climb, offering stunning views of the lake at the top.
The trails here are described as easy to moderate.
We saw some families heading out though they mainly had older kids, so some trails may not be suitable for younger ones.
There is a park available here with a campground with space for tents and RVs.
We were just passing through for the day, but I would consider camping here for our next visit!
At the camping ground, there were showers, restrooms, and electric hookups, making it ideal for families.
4. Site Six Beach
This is a popular beach on Lake Havasu where the lake meets the Colorado River.
It is known for its stunning sunsets, beautiful scenery, and crystal-clear water. Site Six Beach is also located close to the famous London Bridge, which is a must-see when in the area.
It can get a little bit crowded in the summer months. We visited in the first week of August and it was pretty busy by noon, so this is something to consider if you prefer a quieter beach.
My husband is a jet ski enthusiast, so he was keen to hire one and get out onto the lake.
This cost the equivalent of $140 for a half day, which seemed pretty reasonable considering the number of tourists passing through.
We all enjoyed a picnic on the beach, there were plenty of picnic benches, so no need to get your lunch covered in sand!
The playground kept my kids entertained when they wanted a break from the sand and the slide was a particular hit with my daughter!
5. Rotary Beach
This beach is named after the Lake Havasu Rotary Club, which played a key role in its development.
Originally a rocky shoreline, Rotary Beach now offers beautiful sand, and amenities such as showers, a playground, and restrooms.
It’s also well-known for its stunning lake views and surrounding mountains.
Even my teenage son commented on its beauty so it must be pretty impressive!
Visitors can rent paddleboards, kayaks, and jet skis from the rental shops on the lake, but many just come here to sit back and soak up the scenery and enjoy the sun.
The designated swim area put my mind at ease when my kids were playing in the water, and there was a lifeguard on duty too for the duration of the summer months.
As with many beaches on Lake Havasu, there is a boat launch area. My boys loved watching the boats go out and were begging me to rent one!

All of the beaches we visited had something unique to offer but we were particularly impressed with Windsor Beach and would head back there if we came to Lake Havasu again.
