Changi Airport, Singapore, has just dethroned Qatar’s Hamad International Airport at the SkyTrack Awards, which took place in Amsterdam on March 15th.

The SkyTrack Awards are based on customer satisfaction surveys for a UK-based research firm. Every geographical zone has its own top airport, but the most sought-after title is World’s Best Airport.

Changi Airport had been named previously eleven times World’s Best Airport, before leaving the title to Doha HIA in 2021 and 2022.

This year, not only did Singapore win the World’s Best Airport award, but also the Best Airport Dining and Best Airport Leisure Amenities.

Additionally, the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel won the award for the best airport hotel, for the 8th time in a row.

Doha ranks this year 2nd place, Tokyo Haneda’s airport, 3rd, and Paris CDG 5th.
Doha HIA also won World’s Best Airport Shopping award, and Middle East’s cleanest airport award.

It is interesting to note that no US airports made it to the top 10 World’s Best Airports.

Changi Airport CEO, Lee Seow Hiang, emphasized the fact that “this recognition is a great encouragement for the airport community, who stood firmly together”.

To all those who have transited through Changi Airport, it is quite a straightforward choice.

Singapore regained its hub position post-pandemic, with passenger numbers back to around 80% of pre-covid levels.

From thousands of electrical chargers to shower facilities, Changi offers passengers in transit a comfortable stay with many free things to do, while enjoying hundreds of orchids around the four terminals.

You can visit the steamy tropical butterfly garden; or swim at the transit hotel rooftop. On the entertainment floor passengers can find PlayStations and MTV booths. There is also the famous rock-climbing wall and the world’s largest indoor waterfall.

There are dozens of restaurants to choose from, most being opened around the clock. With more than two hundred choices at the airport, visitors can choose from sushi to dim sum, and Burger & Lobster.

Visitors always love the three transit hotels, nap rooms per hour, and superb lounges that one can pay to access.

Along with the usual awards, SkyTrack introduced this year an “Art in the Airport” award, which Houston Airport System won. For this specific award, results come from judges’ votes and not from passengers’ surveys.

Let’s note that Melbourne, Australia, won the award for Best Airport in Australia and Pacific, as well as Best Airport Staff for the same region.

Finally, the United States and the UK are still struggling to win any awards in the top categories, with Seattle Tacoma airport ranking 18th, and no UK airport at all in the top 20.

Singapore Changi Airport continues to strive towards perfection, and expects passenger level to return to pre-pandemic levels by 2024.

In 2019, Singapore welcomed more than 19 millions visitors, but only 6 millions in 2022.
