Despite being a small coastal community, Perdido Key has much to offer. I got a chance to visit and experience some of its top attractions, such as the pristine beaches and amazing food scene.

Please keep in mind that this list is not an exhaustive compilation of all the activities in Perdido Key, as it is impossible to include every single one. However, based on my experience, they are the best the place has to offer.

The museum is about 30 minutes drive from the bridge on the mainland.
This world-renowned museum spreads over 300,000 square feet and showcases 4,000 artifacts and exhibits, including:

However, it’s important to note that as an active military base, remember to bring your IDs.

With an abundance of excellent golf courses in Perdido Key, golfers often face the pleasant dilemma of choosing where to begin their golfing adventure.
The region has several courses, each with its unique design crafted by renowned architects such as:

While it is not hard to spot dolphins on your own, I still recommend you take a dolphin cruise. These cruises typically last 1-2 hours and take you out into the Gulf of Mexico or the Intracoastal Waterway.

7. Maritime Museum and Pensacola Lighthouse
If you are a history buff, you can explore the historic Pensacola Lighthouse. While there, ensure you climb its 177 to enjoy the stunning coastal views and learn about the rich marine history of the Gulf Coast region.
However, keep in mind that certain rules apply, such as age restrictions for the climb and the necessity of an ID to enter the Pensacola Naval Air Station.

One notable feature within Fort McRee is the Battery Center, an artillery battery dating back to 1899. This battery is named after Lieutenant John P. Center, who tragically lost his life during the Battle of Okeechobee during the Second Seminole War.
You can explore the ruins of Fort McRee and the Battery Center, providing a captivating glimpse into the area’s coastal island history.

Among the many highlights, my two favorite things about Perdido Key are its pristine beaches with crystal-clear waters and its captivating wildlife encounters.
The serene beaches provide a tranquil escape. Lastly, witnessing dolphins frolicking in the Gulf of Mexico was a truly unforgettable experience.
