Here are the essentials on staying at an easyHotel, why easyHotels are worth it, and a personal review from me of a recent stay at easyHotel in Birmingham, England, UK.

My EasyHotel Birmingham Review

I recently enjoyed a great-value stay at the easyHotel in Birmingham, UK.

After hearing about the brand and reading a few TripAdvisor reviews I booked my stay with a completely open mind.

The easyHotel Birmingham City Centre is housed in a presentable red-brick building in the city center that is just a short walk from Birmingham New Street Station.

I have to say, I was impressed by the smart urban presentation and the cleanliness of the communal areas which were minimally furnished.

I had seen a few less and favorable reviews for this hotel, indicating that services and furnishing would be sparse, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Reception staff were welcoming and check-in was quick with my photoID. Like many hotels the room’s electricity was key-card controlled.

My room had a full-sized window, though I had to pay an extra £10 ($12) to get it. This hotel is famous for windowless box rooms so I thought I would treat myself! The room, linens and towels were clean and fresh.

It was very small but the space was used practically with snazzy design features and city vista decals in easyHotel-branded colors.

There were also enough charging points for my devices. The bathroom was compact but had a presentable shower – all you’d need for your stay.

My stay at the easyHotel Birmingham City Centre cost £74.99 ($92) for one night. There were zero extras. (You can book your stay here.)

Reception has the tea, coffee and snack facilities on the ground floor. My stay was as expected with a clean and functional room that allows you to enjoy the city comfortably!

Your typical easyHotel offers double and twin rooms that are clean, fresh, and comfortable.

Glamour and interior design were never priorities for the easyGroup brand, so don’t expect much beyond a tidy room with a decent city vista.

But when you check easyHotel prices it will be clear that the rooms deliver great value for money.

Does Your easyHotel Room Need Cleaning?

Every guest should arrive at an easyHotel to find a clean room with crisp, fresh linens and towels.

However, you’re going to have to spend a little more if you stay more than one night and want your room clean.

If you need it, easyHotel has a policy of charging £10 ($12) for additional room cleaning, so that’s an incentive to keep everything tidy.

easyHotel Amenities and Services

easyHotel Birmingham street view

Let’s be honest. easyHotels are pretty basic, but they still have essential amenities you would expect from your typical budget hotel.

The hotels are designed to be accessible to wheelchair users, with public areas and wheelchair-accessible rooms that people with mobility problems can access easily.

There is also on-site luggage storage offered at most hotels for around £5 ($6) for 24 hours. Some easyHotels have on-site parking, but you’ll usually be directed to the nearest car park or suitable on-street parking by hotel staff.

If you need assistance, there are staff on hand, but these folks aren’t going to wait on you hand and foot. In fact, it is perfectly possible to check in and enjoy your stay without encountering anyone.

easyHotel Prices

easyHotel offers some of the lowest prices in the hospitality industry.

You usually expect change from £50 ($60) when booking at these hotels. In the UK there have been some £20-per-night rooms advertised, but in reality these are as rare as hens teeth and would require great feats of forward planning and organization to land one.

easyHotels are always cheapest when you book directly and pricing is incentivised to be cheaper the earlier you book. Prices rise considerably if you decide to book close to the date of your stay.

easyHotel Offers

easyHotel offers a loyalty account called clubBedzz. If you sign up before you book, you can get an additional 10% discount on your easyHotel booking.

Other perks include free late check-out on Sundays and exclusive offers and rates reserved for clubBedzzz members. Just remember to log-in before you book!

easyHotel FAQs

Do easyHotels serve breakfast?

Generally, easyHotels do not serve breakfast. This helps the hotel chain maintain its low-cost business model and keep its operations minimized.

Some hotels partner with local eateries to offer a discount on a great breakfast, or offer a breakfast box that can be delivered to your room for an additional fee.

You won’t be starved of tea or coffee as every hotel has a coffee machine that makes an acceptable cappuccino for the low cost of £1 (80 cents), using contactless payment.

Can children stay at an easyHotel?

Yes. But easyHotel does not provide cots or additional bedding. You also may be asked by hotel staff to provide proof of guardianship and remember that there are no discounts on room rates for children.

When is check-in and check-out at an easyHotel?

Most easyHotels offer their earliest check-in at 15:00. Some hotels offer an early check-in at 12:00 for an additional fee.

Check-out time is 10:00 but again you can pay for a late check-out and stay in your room until 13:00. There is also luggage storage in every hotel if you need to stow your bags and head out into the city.

Are there smoking areas in an easyHotel?

All easyHotels are strictly non-smoking.

Why stay at an easyHotel?

The main attraction of easyHotels are the low prices that are usually cheaper than PremierInn, Travelodge and other budget hotel chains.

If you are only staying for one or two nights these clean practical rooms do the job and save you money to enjoy the best of these great European cities.

Where can I stay at an easyHotel in the UK?

In the UK, you can find easyHotel locations in cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburh, Glasgow, Newcastle and more.

Rounding up

easyHotels are well worth checking out if you are looking to visit some of Europe’s most popular cities on a budget.

Most hotels book up pretty quickly, which is understandable when you’re paying just £25 ($30) for a night’s stay.

If you travel regularly for business or have serious wanderlust, look into the clubBedzzz account for additional discounts on your easyHotel booking!
