“Following the transformation of four hotels across China, we’re excited to welcome these four additional venues in the region entering a new phase showcasing the brand’s new vision,” said Amanda Nichols, Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.

Sheraton Xi’an Changba hotel is the first of the four redesigned properties. It features 228 residential-style guest rooms and suits. The region’s rich history, especially that of the imperial Tang Dynasty, inspired the transformation. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Tang Dynasty was in power from 618 to 907 CE and is known as the “golden age” of local arts and culture.

Sheraton Xi’an South is located in the center of the Xi’an Software New City, part of the Xi’an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone. The venue consists of 321 contemporary and well-lit guest rooms and suits having a residential appeal.

The zone was established in 1991 with a total area of 155 square kilometers. It serves as a hub of high-technology industries, including electronics, advanced equipment manufacturing, and pharmaceutical, according to the data by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Sheraton Ningbo Xiangshan Resort is the brand’s first resort in Asia Pacific to reflect the company’s new design transformation. It is located on the Xiangshan coastline. The venue features 270 spacious and contemporary rooms offering sea or mountain views. Xiangshan County in Ningbo City is located in the eastern province of Zhejiang. Xiangshan is known for its wildlife, including 1,768 hectares of coastal wetland reserve, the local government’s website shows.

Nanjing’s financial and trade hub, the Xinjiekou business district, hosts Sheraton Nanjing Kingsley Hotel & Towers. The venue features 70 rooms, redesigned to mirror the local arts and culture, including the staircase handrails and screens to create a contemporary rendition of the local Jinling Folding Fans. Nearly half a million people visit Xinjiekou for work or pleasure every day, and over a million during the peak holiday season.

According to the press release, the four freshly refurbished venues join their peers in the cities of Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Mianyang, and Chengdu.

A recent study by JLL revealed that hotel owners are now progressively focusing on renovations and refurbishments to speed up the industry’s recovery from the pandemic.

Following the outbreak of Covid-19, hotel guests have significantly increased their requirements for health and safety. In addition, guests nowadays also pay attention to sustainability issues. Those two tendencies require frequent updates to stay in line with the shifting trends, JLL said. In conclusion, JLL added that hotels should now prioritize capital expenditure and renovations.
