Review:

Koconut Grove in Chester, Cheshire, England, is an absolute gem that promises an extraordinary South Indian culinary experience. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm smiles and a sense of authenticity that instantly made us feel welcome.

The ambiance at Koconut Grove is both inviting and charming, combining modern elements with traditional South Indian decor.

The reason we picked Koconut Grove is because we are visiting India soon for 7 days to go to a friend’s wedding.

They are serving South Indian food and we had heard that Koconut Grove served the best Masala Dosas in town. They are not wrong!

Take a look at the one my wife ordered:

Koconut Grove’s menu is a delightful exploration of South Indian cuisine, offering a wide range of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences.

Whether you’re a fan of dosas, idlis, vadas, or biryanis, this restaurant has it all, and each dish is an absolute masterpiece.

The flavors in every dish are nothing short of extraordinary. From the aromatic spices that dance on your palate to the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy, it’s evident that the chefs at Koconut Grove put their heart and soul into every creation.

One bite of their signature dosas, and you’ll be transported to the streets of South India, relishing every moment of this culinary journey.

The staff at Koconut Grove deserve a special mention as well. Their passion for South Indian cuisine and dedication to providing exceptional service shines through in every interaction. They are attentive, friendly, and more than willing to guide you through the menu if you’re new to South Indian cuisine.

After hearing that we were traveling to Southern India, they offered us lots of good advice for novice travelers to that part of the world.

So, friendly!

Another highlight of our visit was the coconut-based dishes, as the name “Koconut Grove” suggests. The use of fresh coconut in their curries and chutneys takes the dining experience to a whole new level, infusing each dish with a unique, tropical touch that’s both comforting and exciting.

My starter was amazing, beef strips double cooked. But they weren’t as good as my wife’s 😍

If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, Koconut Grove will be your haven. Their extensive selection of plant-based options ensures that everyone can indulge in the rich tapestry of South Indian flavors.

To conclude, our dining experience at Koconut Grove was nothing short of outstanding. From the delectable food to the inviting ambiance and attentive staff, every aspect of our visit was a joy.

Whether you’re a South Indian cuisine enthusiast or just someone seeking a remarkable dining adventure, Koconut Grove in Chester is a must-visit destination.

Review:

When it comes to authentic Italian cuisine in Chester, Ristorante Sergio is a must-visit destination. Located in the heart of the city, this cozy Italian restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey that will transport you straight to the streets of Italy.

Upon entering Ristorante Sergio, we were greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The rustic decor, complete with exposed brick walls and traditional Italian accents, added a touch of charm to the dining experience.

The owner greeted us in a strong Italian accent and warmly showed us to our table.

Now, let’s talk about the main event – the food. We ordered two soft drinks and two pizzas, and we were not disappointed.

The pizzas were a true highlight.

The Pizzas are cooked from an open-fronted kitchen, so we even got to watch ours being prepared.

The Margherita pizza was a simple yet classic choice, showcasing the perfect harmony between the rich tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil leaves. It’s a testament to Ristorante Sergio’s commitment to using quality ingredients in every dish.

The second pizza we ordered was the Italian Sausage which was incredible.

I worked at Pizza Hut for several years and these pizzas blew those away for sure.

Though we opted for soft drinks on this occasion, the restaurant’s drink selection also includes a variety of Italian wines and beverages that pair excellently with the meal.

The service at Ristorante Sergio was friendly and attentive. The staff made sure our dining experience was pleasant and comfortable throughout the meal, without being intrusive.

The only reason we’re giving Ristorante Sergio four stars instead of five is that while the food was delicious, and the service was great, the restaurant was a little cramped and the seating wasn’t comfy at all. My bum went numb after 15 minutes.

We were also sat right in the walkway for the waiters, and I kept having to move my chair so they could get passed.

However, we didn’t book our table and just walked in off the street. So, you get what you get when you do that.

We ate as much as we could and then they kindly boxed up what was left, and we took it back to our hotel. We finished it off in the evening walk on the Castle wall and then spent the rest of the evening watching TV. Perfect!

In conclusion, Ristorante Sergio is a charming Italian restaurant in Chester that offers an authentic taste of Italy.

With its cozy ambiance, delicious pizzas, and attentive service, it’s an excellent spot for anyone looking to indulge in traditional Italian flavors. We look forward to returning to try more of their enticing dishes and desserts.

Buon appetito!

Review:

Our dining experience at Hickory’s Smokehouse in Chester was an absolute delight, combining the best of both worlds – the breathtaking view of the River Dee and the warm personal service reminiscent of a family-owned eatery in the USA.

The outdoor seating area provided the perfect setting to savor our meal with a stunning view, But as the evening went on the bugs came out to play. Can’t be helped so near to the river.

So, we moved inside.

Though part of a bigger restaurant chain, Hickory’s Smokehouse managed to deliver a personalized touch that set it apart from the crowd. We were welcomed by the friendly staff from the moment we walked in.

The menu at Hickory’s Smokehouse presented a diverse array of dishes that paid homage to the classic flavors of American cuisine. We were thrilled to find a mix of traditional favorites and innovative creations that tempted our taste buds.

We started with their signature loaded nachos, “Hickory’s Ultimate Nachos”, which were a delightful explosion of flavors, topped generously with melted cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, and fresh guacamole. It was the ideal appetizer to share with friends, setting the tone for a delightful meal ahead.

We made a blogger cardinal sin – We forgot to take photos of the food. Shame on us!

Next up were the burgers, The juicy, flame-grilled patties were perfectly seasoned and paired with the freshest ingredients, making them an absolute delight.

Whether it was the classic “Hickory’s Cheeseburger” or the creatively crafted “BBQ Bacon Crunch Burger”, each bite was a nostalgic journey to an American diner.

In addition to the burgers, Hickory’s Smokehouse also offered an impressive selection of other American favorites, such as finger-licking barbecue ribs, zesty buffalo wings, and comforting macaroni and cheese.

The attentive service continued throughout the meal, with the staff readily available to cater to our needs and provide helpful recommendations. Their genuine passion for the cuisine and their dedication to making us feel at home was truly appreciated.

To conclude the evening, we indulged in some mouthwatering desserts that showcased Hickory’s Smokehouse’s commitment to capturing the essence of American sweets.

The “S’mores Skillet” dessert was a delectable treat, combining gooey marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers, perfectly toasted to perfection.

In summary, Hickory’s Smokehouse in Chester offers a great American-style dining experience. With its picturesque location, delectable menu, and personalized service, it’s a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a taste of the USA right on the banks of the River Dee.

We left Hickory’s Smokehouse with satisfied appetites and fond memories, eager to return for more of their delightful hospitality and mouthwatering dishes.
